And now we're getting big

So imagine our surprise when, two days shy of her 8-month birthday, my wife and I walk into our baby's room to see this:

08/05/2006 - I got here all by myself, without any help. I scared Mommy by doing it, but here I am!! Posted by Picasa

We're a little concerned, since she's pulling herself into the standing position before she can sit up without assistance; I was always of the opinion that sitting preceded standing. She's skipped ahead to crawling and standing, though, and just kind of topples over when she tries to sit without aid. Well, sit on her butt, anyway; she can sit on her knees all right, but not on her butt.
We're doomed, of course, but we accept this.

She is sooo proud of herself. And I am proud of her...but a little worried. After they start pulling themselves up, when do they start crawling(falling) out of their crib?

Her diaper may keep her from actually sitting on her butt...it might make it too round...like a weeble. I wouldn't worry too much about it, if she's able to sit on her knees, and crawl and stand (!) then her core is obviously plenty strong. Great picture!!

Eh, they're not strong enough to pull their body over with their arms. They have to be tall enough to get their heel up on the top rail. If you walk in and she's doing this, it's time to buy a toddler bed.

(PS: That was taken when Lexi was about 16 months old, so you're halfway there!)
