CNN.com - Mars images show rover perched on crater - Oct 6, 2006

     The robot rovers Spirit and Opportunity, on Mars for over 2.5 years of a three-month mission, are still functioning and still providing enormous amounts of scientific data. They're about to send Opportunity into Victoria Crater for unprecedented exploration into the planet's geology and history. This is some good stuff, folks; it's a pity it goes largely unheralded in our world these days.
