She is going to have to have some testing done. She had a sono done on her "kidneys" and the one she has that is working may be more dilated. We haven't been as careful with her diet as we should have been because basically she is picky and we don't want her to starve to death so we have been giving her basically whatever....we don't know if this has anything to do with it but this has been a wake-up call. We are her parents and know that this is an important part of her care. She may seem "normal" but she has special health needs. I am not worrying but admitting that I have a responsibility to make sure she eats healthy foods. I am not worrying about her kidney, there is nothing outside of diet that I can do (and diet may or may not help but it sure won't hurt!). I am expressing disgust at my own irresponsibility in this matter (Editor's Note: I'm not too happy with myself, either). So we need prayers for Bronte's health and that her parents will find something for her to eat....ahahah. No cheese, very little milk, green beans for every meal....bad idea, no meat. Her favorites are green beans (fresh not canned) and cheese. Any other child that would be a great choice for a meal. *sigh* I would go lay down if I wern't already (bad all-day sickness). I wonder if raw carrots are safe? Must go look it up. Any ideas on what to feed her?
Thank you so much for the prayers.
God Bless,
Tiffany

You guys need to stop beating up on yourselves all the time. Bronte may need special care...to my mind, she gets special care. When you see the doc in a couple of days, ask about the food. Get specific and get an opinion. It is very hard to grow up with no protein...bones count as much as kidneys. She was born with a problem, brought on by nobody that I know. God gave her great caretakers who love her and who would do anything at all for her. That puts her way ahead. I have NEVER heard a word about greenbeans being anything but good for you. I think a little cheese and a little chicken would be ok. I do NOT think a straight vegeterian diet is good for you. Ask the doc. Anyway, when she gets a little older, she will eat what she wants and you will not be able to monitor every bite she takes. Try to lighten up a little so you will still be around to enjoy her teen years...that's when it gets really fun. And don't forget about Peanut..."he" will need parents, too.
The doctor is the one to tell us she needed to be on this diet. He said a Low Protein Vegeterian diet. Veggie Protein is MUCH easier for her kidney to filter. Animal protein such as dairy, meat and eggs is harder. He said not to worry about her getting enough because American get too much usually.
