I love love love Gardening!

I always thought that the green thumb that the women in my family possesses had some how skipped me by. No matter what I tried to grow I killed. I do have one house plant that has suffered along for the last 4 years. It is a bit scraggly but I left it out one day after a rain and forgot to bring it in. Its leaves were scorched. But a month of so latter it is still with us and looking better. After removing all the badly scorched leaves it had like 5. Now I think there are about 10 to 15. I know poor thing. but my back yard garden it WONDERFUL. There are these tiny little bottle neck squash that are just a little longer than an inch. SO CUTE. My mystery squashes are not eggplant sadly. The leaves aren't right but I'll be happy with what I get. One of my Zucchini is starting to turn green. My tomatoes are doing nothing, but it still lives so there is hope. I killed all my potted plants, 2 marigolds and a strawberry plant. I think my Broccoli is at the end of its life. I am thinking of planting carrots there but have to check to see if that is OK. I know cabbage is a no-no...or squash of course as I have 8 squash like plant in my garden at this moment....Must learn to do some canning! I wish I had a camera to take a picture but my kids broke my cell phone and I just can't find the small digital one...must be here somewhere.

I've been thinking this type of gardening would be useful for some single moms trying to get on their feet. Did you know that you can buy seeds on food stamps in many states? The problem would be for apartment dwellers without a balcony...There is always an community garden type thing...Still thinking and praying. There are a lot of homeless and really struggling moms right now. They are searching for jobs and are also having a hard time with formula too. Which even at Wallyworld is about 15 dollars a can. As a mom this is really on my heart. I know breastfeeding....but some really can't. Me for one. I wanted to SOOO bad. So don't judge.
off my surprise soapbox.
God Loves you so much,
Tiff
