Last year I was going to garden. The problem was that I was very pregnant and tried to make my husband help. Those of you who know him know that it just didn't happen...he mumbled something about a brown thumb. But he did build me two square foot raised beds that had nice fertile soil all ready for this year. You know this year, the year I didn't start until too late. Well, too late to start my own seeds. I don't know what I was thinking about in January (!)...I can't remember, there were no haircuts by four year olds in that month. Anyway, the seeds didn't get put where they needed to go. I don't think it is too late. I am planing on begging, cajoling, posting blogs about my desire to visit a nursery to get tomato plants to bring home to live in these lovely boxes that Patrick worked too very hard to make just to be wasted yet again.
Sam goes for his eye doctor visit today..yep its 1am so today. It hasn't got any better, maybe she has some "eye"dea (puns are fun) that we haven't tried yet. He has been talking more and has been using more signs. Mostly "more" and mostly he wants pasta. He like toes and noses as well. He hasn't shown any desire to walk after his one attempt at dog wrestling.
Miss B hasn't been up to much. She hasn't turned in her worksheets for a couple of days so she hasn't drawn anything cool. The last thing was a bunny with one floppy ear. It was very good. She has become a very good little artist. She is also a pretty good reader. I don't force the lessons on her at this point I ask and most of the time she wants to read. If she doesn't she wont even try so it just makes both of us miserable. I want her to enjoy reading so it is important for her to have good memories about it. I know some think she should already be reading but I don't believe in pressing her like that. She is four, she is reading at a late kindergarten or 1st grade level. That is wonderful. She does it because she wants too. We have started having a little more structure in her day and it has helped some.
She did give us a scare yesterday by deciding that she wanted to eat lettuce and all green leafy plants must be edible...even houseplants. Luckily Mommy caught her before she swallowed...an irritating plant and not a poisonous one. I explained that she couldn't eat leaves Mommy or Daddy didn't give her.
"Ah Mom!" I hate when she calls me that. "Green leafy plants are vegetables and vegetables are good for you. Carrots are vegetables."
"Only eat the ones Mommy and Daddy give you."
"Well what about Memaw?"
"That's fine."
"The waitress?"
"Well Mommy and Daddy probably know about it so that's fine."
"What about Dakotah?"
"AHHHHH, NO."
"Why? She is big."
"She doesn't know anything about plants...ask her about horses."
"Oh, okay. I like horses. They eat carrots. Will the horse turn orange if it eats a lot of carrots? Or will it grow a horn? I like unicorns better."
Four year olds can be a lot of fun when they aren't doing something destructive...she is really good at distracting me. I have just realized this. Maybe it's because I don't sleep enough. Not sure why.
Well I must go do something about that.
G-D bless you,
Tiffany

That's probably close to 21 days of writing. I look every day to see what my grands are up to. You know, Bronte has a very logical mind. And she can really consentrate. And she is cute. Sam is cute, but he hasn't shown a lot of logic or concentration just yet. Just wait...
it is the concentration that will do me in. "Must go hook my rug, oh, wait I haven't finish crocheting that wash cloth, but the dishes I must do some dishes...oh have my plants been watered today?" I am a butterfly in the area of concentration. I am trying to train myself to focus better. Charlotte Mason believes training concentration is needed and I sooo need it.
