The doctors have warned us, several times, that Bronte was at risk of RSV until she was 2. Last year she got a Synagis shot for several months, and didn't even have a cold. This year she all ready had a cold, with no real problems. RSV is like a simple cold in older children and adults. So I guess I figured Bronte wasn't going to have some of the problems from being a preemie, She just "cooked" fast. Well, we have been treating her present cold since Friday but she kept getting worse, so yesterday we had to go to see her doctor. Yep, poor baby was diagnosed with RSV, after they took a swab. They sent us home with a breathing machine of our very own. She doesn't like it so much. This morning was better than both times yesterday. She cried all the time, every time yesterday. Today, she only cried for about 1 minute, and she even helped hold the mask. The nurse practitioner thinks we caught it before it got worse, it still may get a little worse but hopefully she won't have to go to the hospital. So far it looks good, we do have to breathing treatments every 3 hours unless she is asleep.
